    Sbc with a T5 vs th350

Have a chance of either the 350 or t5 to run my sbc. Does anybody here run the T5 as I have only ever driven a manual car and what are the pros and cons to the T5 ?
Plus what would you pick ? Thanks

I've got a Mustang which i converted to a manual,i went with a Tremec TKO/upgraded 3550,as the T5's are ok for street use,but really not very strong with regards to torque.

Lots to consider etc,are you going to race it?

No I'm not going to be racing, don't think I could afford it. Will just be for street use. The sbc will be set up with a tri power, the block was out of a 68 Camaro and I think has around 300hp... Before the tri power was put on. But if I can afford it will have it rebuilt, that's if can afford after the 38 is built.

i had a cossie t5 on the back of a small block chevy ,after a couple of years of abuse the oil was the same colour as the aluminium casing and the box was whining and grumbling
    was fun though

Then I better bring a spare over with my truck then. Manuals always seem more fun to me.

If your just cruising I'd go for the auto. I have a manual and my wife an auto in our dailys. The auto is best for pottering around; the manual's better if you want to get out on the A roads and have some Sunday morning therapy
Money talks; unfortunately mine just says "goodbye"

I may not be using it for racing but it will be my weekend therapy... At the moment my daily ( I know it's not the same ) but we have a 1600 yaris, and it's quick. I enjoy the extra power, but this will be my first v8 and rear wheel drive car I have owned. So don't know what to expect, but have been told it will be a shock ( I can't wait )

If you do go for a manual box you'd be a lot better off for reliability/longevity with a Tremec TKO rather than the T5 -Chevrolet never used the T5 behind anything as big as a 350 motor.

According the the manufacturer, the TKO is good for 500 ft lb of torque -more than most of us will ever see from our ride.
