    Spark problems 79 Dodge

My son's luck continues with his 360, 79 Dodge Lil Express truck.
    Breakdowns since begining August.
    1. Water pump failure
    2. Distributor cap & rotor replaced (last week)
    3. TQ Carb flooding replaced with Holley (yesterday)
Tonight phoned up truck won't start.
When checked no spark at plugs.
Checked volts at +ve on coil, only shows 6volts, remove +ve wire from coil check across earth to battery, supply goes to 12v.
Cleaned earth to block, changed battery for a fully charged one plus jump leads from mine, no difference, checked and cleaned all connectors (coil, terminal block on wing etc). Swapped coil to check volts still show 6volts
Distributor is magnetic contactless system with two wires (Yellow/black & black) disappear into loom.
Don't have workshop manual so can't follow wires.
There are two modules on the bulk head. Passenger side, a silver one. Drivers side (left hand drive) a blue one I would guess this is the ignition amplifier module.
Does anyone know if there are any checks I can do that I might of missed or how do I check the modules.
The wiring is a real chop job with parts of the original loom taped up and replaced with god knows what.
Truck had run fine this morning until parked up.
    Cheers
    Ian

    Hi Ian

There should be a second terminal on the starter marked R for resister, try
running a new wire from there to the coil, that will give you 12v when cranking
the engine to start up, also the module is the same they used on a XJ6, I fitted
one to Jenson years back, worked a treat

    Good luck
The car is open, the keys are under the dog !

    Thanks Zody.
Tried what you said but could not remove terminal nut on starter for small lead (danger of shearing it). Ran a lead straight from battery to coil when cranking.
When we tried again with full battery, optima battery on jump leads and jump leads on battery from my Galaxy (3 batteries in all) the starter was turning slower than required to give the engine a good spin and still no spark.
My guess is now starter is shagged and dragging voltage down too far to power coil. We have removed starter and ignition relay and taken them to our local auto electrics but it'll be Monday or Tues before we get em back. So we'll have to be patient
    Cheers
