Also try putting the angle finder on top of the spirit level when it's set level, it should also read level.
The thing with an angle finder it only checks angles, not levels. So each side of your car may appear set correctly, but are they the same level?

got a new angle finder, paid £20.00 for it and its great reads the same as the spirit level. So from that I can tell you the old one was crap.
Its now full steam ahead on installing the ifs. it really does pay to check everything twice.
    thanks for the advice

For reference, where did you get the crap one, might save someone else buying one.
How'd the weekend go? Well, at the moment it looks like a dolphin that's been caught in a boats propeller.

Suppose it also depends what sort of angle finder; one of those dial ones or a digital one. I ahve been tempted to get a digital one to replace my Pop browns one...........

It was one of those impulse buys at a rod show. Son has bought a digital angle guage like a spirit level but with an angle arm that reads the degrees on an lcd. It looks good but is quite cumbersome in use. Got it ( digital) from screwfix.
