    Standard performer vs performer rpm inlet...which one and whats the difference?

    Ok been askin a few folk about the difference between these two Inlet Manifold for my mopar '383' just lookin to upgrade to 4brl carb and inlet- nothing fancy! just a bit more umph should i need it, general concensous is go for the standard one over the RPM one, some are sayin i should use one over the other, will be usin probably an AVS or AFB carb - oh yeah anyone got one for sale??

    So does it have a 2 brl on there at the mo? If so what sort of driving use are we talking about? If as you say just want a bit more umpf, whilst keeping the standard cam n heads n stuff maybe headers, I'd go for a Performer inlet. Any thing more would be to much in my opinion and would be a wast of effort. I'd go with Avs if auto box if I had the choise, Afb with manual. Afb's work lovly with auto's though so dont rule it out, just that the Avs would be even better. For a 383 Mopar, stock engine and performer inlet, 600cfm would be the best size, and with the performer would give you nice crisp acceleration.
    If you plan on heads and cam and so on go with the Performer rpm, but add a slightly higher stall converter, bigger carb and some stout rear gears to do it properly.
    When you plop the Carter/Edelbrock/Webber 4 bbl on there, get the rod and jet tune up kit, a do the job properly. Although the carb will work great out of the box, it cant possably be bang on for your aplication, as they come with a generic ( perposly on the rich side, to stop folk overheating and or melting parts ) setup from the factory. Doing the jet and rod job will make it pretty much spot bollock, better performance and better mpg, what more could you ask for?
    If you already got a 4 bbl manifold on there, I'd think long and hard before changing it for a Perfromer inlet. I just dont think in normal use you'd see much advantage for the cost and time to swap it. But I would still go for a Afb or Avs as above, with a stock 4 bbl inlet manifold.
    Wich ever your situation is I would strongly advise fiting a good pair of tube headers and decent silencers (Flow master 40 given a choise, sound unbelivably good and powerfull, maybe to much for some, But a mopar with flowmasters sounds great and you can listen on the you tube for examples ) Remember the 4 bbl will get the stuf in but good exhaust needed to get it out.

    It's a test on a 360 Ch*vy but they have some great dyno proof of the subleties of inlets.
