    Torque Converters..

Have to admit Torque converters are a bit like voodoo to me. Mines cracked so need a new one but am unsure of what to spec??

Car has a 402 big block with mild tune (wide overlap cam, 11.1 CR, some mild internal work), Th400, 3.1 FDR and 225/70/15 tyres.

As I am not entirely clear on stall speeds or lock out converters etc dont really know what to look for.

Please help me be less thick!. Suggestions please!

    Thanks all..

would of thought 2500-3000rpm stall would be nice but depends what you want out the car, i run 3500rpm stall on the street but converters tight and will only flash to 3500rpm when you bury the throttle so makes it user freindly until you going up a steep hill then the revs will climb a bit, if you wana wake it up a bit off the line go for 3000rpm stall, wouldnt fit anything less than 2000rpm stall with your combo hope this helps

I would suggest no more than 3000 high stall (as you a heavy car) and street driven, I would go for a TCR Saturday night Special, or B&M Holeshot, both converters are 10".
Would be good suit for your application. ( My opinion of course )

    Hope this helps...
The car is open, the keys are under the dog !

Thanks for the input, from reading it looks like 2600 - 2800 stall might be best compromise to give me decent launch and nicer user - cruiser driveablility.

What difference does the converter size make? I have seen one from TCI 2800 - stall but is 11"

Anybody know a good UK outlet or I am back to shipping from the US?
