you could use the front torsion spring pack from a beetle. basically a set of leaves that twist. may be worth looking into? or lots of smaller french h/backs have torsion bar rears as do fiesta courier vans if you want a tougher one.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

he had used where the inner fulcrum runs through the lower arm and along the chassis, looked a very clean and well executed set up
i want cubic inches! lots of em!!

I want to run them forwards down the chassis, adjustable at the front end, making my own billet ali arms and also want to run lever arm shocks so nothing is visible from behind, fiesta van sounds like a good starting place as its light.

Most torsion bars have a splined ends which will give you some adjustment on ride height. If not you can have them machine to 8 or 16 sided or even splined. Billet arms, cant see a reason why not.
In the end a torsion bar is just a straight coil spring. Think about it. Both just 'twist' the bar to get the desired effect.

As to nothing visible... Whats nothing????

    Something like this

built by hand NOT by computer
