    Trans fan switch

I have a fan assisted trans cooler. The fan is wired constantly on, but I'd like to control it via a temperature switch in trans sump. Can anyone recommend a suitable switch/sender. I've seen a few advertised, but they seem to be variable type meant for gauges.

Also what temperature should transmission run at ideally? ( th400).

    Thanks

When i ran a th350 with a decent trans sized cooler it ran mostly at approx 150 degrees F,
At about 190 F plus its not that good for the life of the box,
Ideally the fan would need to cut in at about 180F ish.

This fan switch would be about right against chevy2's advice; i.e. on at 88C 190F; off at 79C 174F
Fan Temp Cooling Switch 88C/79C M22 x 1.5 For Kit Car Track Rally | eBay
You can get a solder in boss for you tin autobox sump:
Brass Solder In Bush M22 x 1.5 Fan Switch Radiator Boss | eBay
Ally threaded bushes are available which can be TIG'd into an ally sump.
There is a vast array of different on/off temperatures available in these switches; the degrees C on/off temperature is usually contained in the part number.
