I made a similar one recently, slightly more complex shape. Cut a sheet about 10mm too large on all sides, formed it roughly around my knee and then tacked in the centre/top part of the hump first, then beat it to meet the bulkhead and floor and tacked a couple of centimetres at a time until it was the right shape, in the right place before seam welding it

i did one similar a while back, 1st made a template from thin card, easy to bend etc, cut to shape. then transfered the flat shape to steel, cut it out, then formed the wide end over a tyre that i had which was around the same radius, just by hand, starting centre and gentle pressure on the steel to make the shape
i want cubic inches! lots of em!!

you shoulda said, i'd have made one before i delivered it.
seriously, get the engine/box sat in place or you may end up doing it twice if what you make doesn't clear the box.

Are you planning on having the opening pictured to have removable panel over it, or are you hoping to just weld the lot up?

    Thumbs upWhat they said!

I set my engine so far back in my MKII that I cut and reused the centre section of original bulkhead
to keep that swaged strength etc and then as was said made up templates with thin card and just
cut and shaped em over anything with an approximate curve.
Gotta say it was the most absorbing part of the build

You could get all groovy with dzus or captive fasteners for your job!

    cheers
