    Tri Chevy headers

Many moons back I helped a mate put his 56 together with a 454. As was common at the time we had to modify the off the shelf headers to fit.
The car is now being redone and was just wondering what headers you big block Tri Chevy people are using these days? I'm sure technology has moved on so am looking for some that might actually fit!

    Hi Plump

best go to ChevyTalk. I think they have a spreadsheet for the many permutations - side/front mount, sm/big block, steering and so on. In fact here's the link:

steve, couldnt tell you what ones i have as they were second hand and i chopped them to bits to get them to fit! depends on the position of the engine, i belive that the popular thing is to use side mount engine mounts that move the engine forward about 3/4 of an inch, and i have been told that patriot make a good quality header to fit this combo, they are also reasonably priced.

Thanks Andy...you could buy them off the shelf before but they didn't fit! I had to modify sets for two different cars to get them in, one was a set of Hookers but can't remember what the others were.
I'll see how we get on with the list and if we get stuck I'll get back to you.

    Steve,

I would definatley buy the Earl Williams headers.

I have had these on my car since built, they fit, dont rot, leak or any other nasties plus they tuck up nice and close into the chassis so no problems with ground clearance.

    Recommended.
