Hi there, on a Zephyr or Zodiac this swap is easy peasy, 302 sbf is simplicity itself but, a consul with its lesser wheelbase is a bit more tricky. As youve guessed the bulkhead will need cutting and moving back/replacing. I'd mount the engine as you would on a Zephyr using the through bolt type engine mounts and plate and tube adapters onto the X member. Careful measuring will tell you how much the bulkhead and tunnel will need adjusting. The g box X member wont line up with the g box mount like it does on the Zephyrs, but shouldn't be too hard to figure out. Out back, throw the original axle away and put in something stronger, 8 or 9 inch, a decent prop to match. As for the clutch pedal, just unbolt it from the the pedal box and take it out.
Make sure you uprate the brakes all round as even a knackered v8 will pull these along quite tidy.
This project is not too complex if you have some experience in fabricating and modding but if its your first attempt at a rod I'd suggest getting some help from others in your area who have. Go to your local clubs and cruises.
Hope this has not put you off,
    Good luck Steve Large

Saw your pics in the garage section, looks like your cracking on ridding it of tin worm. The strut swap isn't staight forward either if I recall. I had one years ago with this swap and if I remember correctly the Mk1 control arms dont fit the Mk2 struts, and the Mk2 control arms are longer than the Mk1 ones. Mine had the Mk2 arms cut and shut and gusseted to the correct length, looked a bit nasty though and not sure how that would go down for SVA/BIVA. It may be possible to adapt the Mk2 hubs and calipers to the earlier struts but I've not tried that myself. I spoke to the guy at Zodiac motor spares ( I think that who it was) at acruise earlier in the year and I think he said he was doing a disc conversion for the Mk1 but not sure what components are used on that or how much.
Anyhow crack on, it'll be worth it in the end

cheers steve ,i did email you after a brief chat we had at the pod ,about possibly doing a strut conversion on the front
as for the mk2 stuff yeah the bottom arms are longer ,my plan was to get them made adjustable ,as that way i could correct the geometry,i had a chat with keith at zms only the other day but as im still considering airride as well i dont wanna have to butcher one of his conversions

    Hi cosxr2i,

Seeing as you are only in Baldock your best bet for help and advice is Dave Woodfield "MK2 DAVE" he is only up the road from you, based at Stotfold.

What he doesn't know about MK2's isn't worth knowing.

He has got a show on at Stotfold on Saturday 7th August so will be about all day, and as MK2 CZZ are his favorite subject striking up a conversation should be dead easy.

    Cheers.

    Russ.
