Right, well in that case you appear to have a strip set up carb with no vac port on it so that would explain the confusion

if you need a vac port for the dizzy you can put a fitting direct to the manifold or as I said swap out the base plate

I'd fit a little PCV breather and you can leave the other vac line alone, doesn't need to be plugged if not in use on the dizzy

I thought maybe i would need one as it idles high nearly 2k with the idle srew completley out,

So I can remove the pipe from the cam cover breather and just fit a breather without the pipe adapater right? Im not sure what to do with the vac advance pipe from the dizzy tho! What do you think is best?

Sorry again for sounding like a div

2k is stupidly high, it should not be up there! Your idle should be 750-1200 on most engines, maybe up to 1500 on a race motor!

Something isn't right with that carb on that motor...whats the specs on the motor and what size is the carb

Is there a "Tree" at the back of the manifold? You need to run the PCV to evacuate the crankcase and reduce smoke emissions out the exhaust. I would also run the Vac Advance on the Dizzy, much better in day to day driving. Have you checked for a vacuum leak at carb base? With engine running spray around carb base with WD-40. If engine picks up revs at any point you have a leak.

    Cheers
    Andrew

Hi HALLnRODZ no tree at back,

I had 2 hoses connected to original carb one from cam cover breather and one from the vac advance from dizzy, I have no ports on the carb at all due to it being a strip set up carb or so im told, but I dont know what to do with these 2 hoses?
    Car idles high too.

    there are several options:-

    1. change the base of the carb to give you the vacuum connections you need.
    2. change the carb to a carb set up for street use
    3. keep that carb and change your dizzy to one with mechanical advance.

you don't really need to run a pcv valve, just run a road draft tube instead.

ok thanks 35kid, is it a bad idea to plug the vac advance for now? Im not sure what damage it would do? I will have a look for a new base or ported spacer maybe, dont want to really change the carb again but I may have to I guesse.

What size is the carb? If its the right size for what I need I'd be interested in doing a deal for my street carb plus cash your way if interested, mines got vac ports for PCV and distributor advance

Vacumn ports should be on opposite side of carb to throttle lever, on carb base plate towards front of carb - on image above top right above l/h primary butterfly.
If nothing there the carb is possibly a bog standard Holley but fitted out with aftermarket trick bits. perhaps the two red bolts another reader described as jet extensions are covering adjustable main jets?
If you can't find anything suitable for vac feed on carb then look towards inlet manifold - there will probably be something blanked-off there or a provision to tap something out.

They aren't on those, thats a complete aftermarket quickfuel unit

The jet extensions allow for quick change of jets when tuning at the track
