Hi ya'll. I recently, last year, bought a TH350 to replace the Powerglide that's in the car right now and I have a couple of questions for the trans wizards out there. Right, when I bought it the guy didn't know too much about it apart from it was allegedly rebuilt by someone called Chris Meeks and was intended for a 9 second car and that it's sat in a dry garage since he bought it. My questions are, is there any way of telling what type of valve body is in it, whether it's manual or fully auto and whether it's forward or reverse shift pattern, just by looking at it? I've got to buy a 3spd shifter so kinda need to know if it's forward or reverse at least. Any help always appreciated. Thx, Rog.
your PM didnt come through.
You should be able to see what the shift sequence is by engaging the parking pawl when it is sitting on the floor, if it has been dry stored, maybe pull the sump, you could identify the valve body by casting marks, not that I am familiar with that auto box, just th700r4 & 4l60E.
Hopefully it was built with plenty of trans gel/lube, but again take the pan off and have a look.... but you dont want any moisture/rust on anything - should all look nice if it aint been run ... hth
