    voltage regulator ?

my car is running on 6volt and i seem to blow bulbs very often,im wondering if it might be the regulator ,has anyone had any experience with modern versions or other corrective means , dont want to spend a huge amount as i may go 12 volt at some stage, cheers

Sounds like there could be an over voltage problem. What car is it? and can you put up a pic of the regulator with the top off? there are a couple of different ways that current was regulated on 6 volt systems, so either the dynamo or regulator may need adjustment if there is an issue.

    Think these might help.

    1948 Chevy Stylemaster 6V Regulator | The H.A.M.B.

Just read that some antique tractors with hardly any eletrical accesories used a 8v battery and wonder if your reg was setup for one of these batteries
