    Volvo 240 axle advice please

hi gang,my first post so please excuse me if i seem a bit daft! as the title says i am about to start building a V8 somerset and want advice on different rear axle.
Is a volvo 240 axle recognised as siutable for a Rover V8,what ratio's are they? and any more difficault to get narrowed etc? do they all come with rear discs? Do they have same stud pattern as Chevy/jaguar?
Anyone recommend anyone to do chassi mods and narrow said axle around london or the home counties?
    Any help appreciated

    joe

yes a volvo will take a rover , i think there are two ring gear sizes 7 1/4 ? and thats the larger one , just narrowed mine , drill out the welds heat up pig nose and pull the axle tube out cut what you need off ,reheat pig nose slide axle tube in , it goes in about 2 1/2 " , i think they all have discs and they are the worst pcd to get wheels for , go for a ten bolt or an 8" or a 9" if you have the money
    Pro Street Escort... MOT ready.
Hug Street Morris Oxford mo.... unfinished, on its tenth set of wheels
    Custom truck ..getting there

Manuals are 3.331:1 and autos are 3.73:1

They are V strong, if you are going for a volvo, 760 turbo has an LSD in it and a speedo drive on the diff housing (Handy if you need it)
Apparently a turbo diff will fit in all other cases, only odd one out is 262C, had a smaller third member.

All discs with internal brake shoes for hand brake.

Odd bolt pattern unless you want euro wheels, same effort to narrow as a 8 or 9", so while you're having your new shafts made, get different bolt pattern (US ford?)
More parts available for yank axle but they are V big and heavy.

    Hope this helps

    Hi

If you're happy to run adaptors just allow for the extra thickness when shortening. Pop browns do em. I had some billet centres made for my revolution split rims by a mate on his CNC they bolt straight on to the volvo pattern but I wouldn't have liked to have paid the bill

Aftermarket shafts available, not sure about PCDs though. Might be worth looking in the classifieds there were some on here recently.
