what size baffle pipe for sidepipes on a 283 chevy?

i ve got a pop with a chevy 283 cu in, (4.7 l) with a pair of 3 1/2" dia sidepipes, 31" long which dont have any baffling at all & are consequently quite loud!
i want to make up some absorption baffles to quieten it down a bit.
what diameter perforated tube & how long should it be? i can get from 1.75" up to 3" dia
    thankyou

if you were to get a pair of cherry bombs, they could be slid inside and made removable for "off road" use, i would suggest 2,1/2" inlet, and outlet, that should give it a decent tone without upseting the nice policemans

have you a balance pipe fitted, that helps to mellow it down a bit.

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts, And I looked and behold: a pale horse. And his name, that sat on him, was Death. And Hell followed with him.
