What Spark Plugs for BBC 454 engine-please?

Struggling to find a supplier who will supply me some spark plugs for a 454 Big Block Chevy, sadly I chucked to old ones away after stripping the engine- although I'm not too sure what the person who put some bits in there was thinking... so best check!

It has now been fully rebuilt and is looking nice and strong, I have '049 heads which are the rectangular port, iron heads, a decent Edelbrock cam (nothing fancy) and know the thread size is - 5/8" threaded seat /'2" reach... that's about it.

So- anyone able to assist me in recommending a plug number please?

Didn't realise things were that difficult these days...

    Thanks very much

    Rich

The heads are 1973 rectangular... passed that to the supplier and that didn't help 'em.

I'll have another go- but never thought it'd be that tricky... simple stuff is always the hardest!

Little bit of research shows NGK-YR5 for 049 heads according to some forums.

Work out what set up you've got
Decide whether to run a hot or cold plug
You always have to match set gaps....
    Brand don't mean much
    Buy 8
    GO !
