    Where can we get bushes?

    Hi All,

These are the bracket things that hold the cab to the chassis. (1951 Ford F1 pickup).

The rubber bushes are buggered. Any ideas where we can get replacements over here?

I'm sure we could get them from John's F100 in the states, but it seems like such a simple thing. I'm thinking there must be companies in the UK that make this sort of thing that would supply in low quantities.

    Any ideas?

Have you tried taking them to a local bearing supplier and see if they could match it.

Measure the ID of the outer sleeve & the OD of the inner sleeve and get some turned up from nylon and then press them back together?

    Would nylon do the job?

I kinda had the impression they were rubber so they would stop vibrations. Isn't nylon a hard material?

If nylon is an alternative, I think I might have a go at turning them myself.

Is there any particular grade of nylon that I should look for? RS Components seem to sell rods of it is various diameters, but I don't know the difference between nylon 6, nylon 66 and glass filled nylon.

Failing that, does anyone know of a bearing supplier in South Essex?

I don't think you will find anybody here that will have them as they are not really worth stocking. Definitly get the correct rubbers and don't use nylon as they are rubber for a good reason.
