where to get handbrake cable nipples.

I've got a pair of Volvo handbrake cables that I have shortened to go on my Pop, these go on a Subaru hand brake. The hand brake end of the cable was already cut off [I presume] as they where to be fitted to another application. This meant that I could slide the cable out, pull the fitting off the axle end of the outer casing cut to length and glue the fitting back on. What I'm after is a pair of 10mm. nipples to go on the end of the cable. I've seen 6mm & 8mm but no 10's any ideas where I can get hold off some.

find a pair of shouldered bolts that fit the hole where the nipple go, drill a hole in the shouldered part and cut off the thread and the head then solder them on ....job done

its always worked for me, but as with any soldering it must be clean. I was making a general comment about drilling a hole, the actual thing i would do is...drill a hole just big enough for the cable, then from the othe side i would re drill with a larger drill to half of the depth of the first hole. feed the cable through the small hole, splay the end of the cable, fill the bigger hole/end of cable with solder, and cut/clean off the excess piece. As long as its clean, it has been soldered correctly and is done right it will be fine. The solder wants to be silver solder which is harder than regular wiring solder

Many years ago I did that for some cables (front brake ,clutch and decompression lever) I made up for a BSA trials bike, as already mentioned making sure the cables are meticulously clean is key, the cables I used were a bit greasy/oily so used a degreaser before tinning but it worked a treat.
