    1949 buick vin plate decoding

    Anybody any good at decoding vin plates on 1949 Buicks?

    I bought a roadmaster sedan and I'm damned if I can find the info on line. Never had trouble with any US vin plate before....
    Hopefully one of you guys has the proper buick body and chassis books and a charitable disposition!

    I can find bits, like second number of model style is 7 so it's a 70 series, but that bit I already know. 4769 is a 70 series 6 passenger sedan, correct for this car.

    And the paint code 910 relates to 1949 code 10 paint, which is Allendale Green, some chips say metallic, some don't, which would it be? Car is indeed green, but repainted 15 years ago.

    I'd really like to know what trim no. 70 is, because that's nothing to do with it being a 70 series, it's the original interior finish and mine has been re trimmed.

    Also body no. C-41, any ideas?

    I also believe some detail can be gleaned from the actual vin, but I don't know exactly what.

    Here are the details;

    The info on the plate is;

    1949
    Mod.
    Style No. 4769
    Body No. C-41
    Trim No. 70
    Paint No. 910

    Vin number is 25030483

    Any help appreciated,
    Cheers,
    Simon
