'36 Dodge Truck Cab - Roof Chop Alternative ?

Hi. I've got a 1936 Dodge truck cab with doors (poor condition with no floor, glass etc) for a rat project. Really needs a roof chop to make proportions better as the windows seem disproportionately big. So, occurred to me I could raise the top of the firewall and cab front cowl and then shorten the screen frame surround on the "A" post sections and this would make the screen smaller. Then on the doors, the bottom horizontal part of the door window surrounds could be neatly cut and raised to suit/match the smaller screen area. I'm not a fan of letter-box rear windows, so that can stay as-is.
Or am I better going the trad' route?

Think i would go down the trad route but alter the rear window opening to the size you want and what suits the cab, post some pics so one of the cleaver guys can photo shop it

so instead of cutting the roof off of the cab and putting it back on lower your plan is cut the cab off of the roof and raise it............ same thing/result. re the back window, cut the surround out of the cab and once the rest is where you want it re attach the surround.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

When I did my Jailbar cab I wanted to keep the fullsize backwindow. I took 3 inches out of the pillars, 2 below the window and 1 above. I think it looks pretty balanced this way and I can still use the window when reversing etc.
Your raising of the window sills will work but be careful to ensure you keep the proprotions healthy.

That looks kind of good less greenhouse like.
But what are you doing for front sheet metal? As that will need raising as well, if you're running a hood…

Oh I see what you mean now. I guess you'll do the same with the front screen aperture too, just closing the bottom in a bit to match the doors?

yep - not planning on running a hood so I'll try and neatly fit a "height make-up panel" into the firewall and, as they say, if I cant hide it - make a feature out of it
