    'Bondo' Shelbys

Wow, this little scam takes the biscuit, average of $200k a car, 60 odd vehicles impounded, plus what have been sold previously, serious money involved

i remember watching a program called rides on saterlite tv about this company carroll shelby gave them permission to use the shelby name. in the program the scoured the usa for 67 and 68 fast backs which they stripped down to bare shells then adding the fibre glass panels to the top spec was a 700 plus hp engine. i think they asked chip foose for the rights to the body kit as he designed the gone in 60 seconds car.

Wow that was in 2007 , I hadn't heard anything about it before . Googling to try and find out what the outcome was .

    Good comment below the article...

"Carroll cares enough about his name to sue the pants off anyone that tries to use "Shilby", "Shellboy", or anything close to his name w/ out permission, but ask nicely and pay in cash, and he'll endorse the **** you took this morning. "

You have to be real careful buying stuff "restored" especially on American Ebay. Some of the work is so poor it's criminal, a Mustang owner from Kent told me about a '60s convertible that was bought unseen, shipped and when it arrived proved to be so rotten it was impossible to MOT and just about impossible to repair because the rust was so extensive and every thing else was bondo. Apparently looked decent in photos!

Does this mean Mr Foose could be implicated ? Unique is always featured on Overhaulin. They also have a hand in the Foose camaro. Large fine is all I reckon they will get. Lets face it its not exactly unheard of in the US alternative car market.

Large fine, that's assuming they have any money. 60 cars @ $200k, at say $100k up front per car, thats $6mill . . .

Taking into account a lot of people will be losing money, plus the prison governer, et al were all made to look idiots.

I think they will do their utmost to ensure that the culprits gets a nice comfy cell

It's a shame , and to think some of our customers squack when we show the hours it takes to do a truely maticuosly clean build , and they have them lined up at the door to dump milions in there laps for a bucket of bondo by less then qualified workers........
    Thanks Steve

I can't believe all these people want an 'Eleanor' mustang. Fukin Horrid, seeing that treatment to one in the film was bad enough for me. Max Power style
