Hi there, would love some pictures of your new ride!

Money... how long is a piece of string? Advertised prices, from 5k to 15k in various conditions.

My dad's was non power assisted steering, he acquired the factory parts and converted his years ago.

If anybody has some side doors for an a100 I would be very interested!

    Peace

    Steve

Amazing ride mate, you probably know but the old owner of the yellow machine (john?) was a big poster on vintage vans, loads of info on that van on the net. I'm pretty sure he flipped the axel to get low but then reversed it back as the ride was harsh!?

My dad had the o.g. Parts for the power assisted steering in the back of his van from the states when it came over (1994!), fortunately!

    Nice van mate,

Dodge A100s ...talk to me.... well here goes....

I put the old N.A.S.C Dodge van on its side in a contraflow on the M25 in the 80s ! when out of shape after a tyre burst and couldnt do a thing towing a full two wheel trailer .
I used to love driving the old thing though !

    I've got a 69 A108 Sportsman.
    Had it about 3 years.
What everyone else says is pretty much bang on.
    It has a mildly tuned 318 V8 with a 727 Auto.
Its fast enough but it aint fast......if you know what I mean.
Smaller tyres will help as it feels over geared.
I run it on LPG & the economy is ok, but on petrol it'll just be in double figures due to its weight & brick shape.
Noisy ???? hell yeh......over 40ish MPH & you talk loud or turn up the stereo.
It has the original drum brakes & stock master cyl & the brakes are **** hot.......firm heavy pedal but no dramas.
I would much rather have one of these over a VW Bay or Splitty as they are so cool, so rare & at the moment......affordable.
Only have two negatives to be honest.
No 1.......Parts.......Very very limited over hear & not too easy State side according to the "Vintage van forum".
No 2.......Steering.......Mine has no play to speak of but boy is it heavy. Way too heavy. Unfortunitly that seems to be the norm so I'm looking into the use of an electric power steering conversion on the column similar to the type that can be retro fitted on VW Campers.
    Plus again......smaller tyres might help.

More than happy with mine in general though.
    Go for it fella
    Blessed are the AirCooled.

Regarding parts, I have had no problems sourcing anything at all. I usually deal with CM Frost who I find really helpful.

I read on vintage vans that steering parts were really hard to find. One call to Frost and I sourced everything.

Interestingly, parts for my A100 are generally much cheaper than for my Imps even taking postage etc into account.

    Hope you find something soon!

    Cheers,

    Hugh

Yeah cheers guys. I have my eye on one in particular, that my missus and kids all love as well, it's just seeing if the current owner wants to sell it to a 'Dodge loving family'.... **fingers crossed**
