If you have a permanent address there then within one month ( EU ruling about 8 years back) smae as is SUPPOSED to happen here. If you are a visitor/ contract worker then up to 6 months.

NFU and Saga give you 12 months cover abroad . As Kev says it’s mostly about where you live . I was in Spain for 10 years but I had a home in UK and travelled back and forth so keep a recent ferry ticket in the car as proof . Wasn’t always my ticket though !

On a related point it's going to be interesting if/when we leave the EU . Will probably have a huge effect on rod / custom/ Historic sales ?

France is probably more strict but I'm currently sat poolside near Alicante, Spain. Heard a neighbour say their car has been here nearly two years, still UK reg. But, get this, car has Spanish insurance but still has UK mot and tax.

Viewed a nice UK Jag, been here over six years, checked UK mot status and it ran out six years ago and mileage has increased 40,000 lol Folks don't put GB stickers on or headlamp things. Seems way too relaxed to me as to the inexperienced the scare stories of huge fines, confiscation etc are unheard of in real life out here!

My friend is in the process of buying a UK XKRagtop out here and is paying the import duty and doing the itv thingymabob as she can't be tooled with the stress. Seems weird to re reg a right hooker, and then if move back to blighty presumably pay import tax again!?

    Cheers

Shouldn't be any import duty to pay as we're still in the EU?
    Screw EU
