    I've been using one of these;

    I've found it very good.

    I always wear eye protection but,must admit,I rarely use a face mask,though I know I should.Allways wear one when grinding stainless or galvanised stuff though.
    If you've got a decent supplier for the welding trade nearby,ask them what they recomend.They may even give you a couple of samples to try out.

    I Always use fume and particle masks.

    welding dangerous **** for years, very high chromium ridden fumes and crap.
    Depends how much you want to invest !! Fume for the **** given off during heating galvanised surfaces, dust and particles caused by grinding anything !!

    You protect your eyes after incident, only got 2, luckily still there.
    Lungs, same ,dont neglect them, i dont know any old welders, wjho were the cool guys when i was younger..

    if you cant afford a good air fed full face visor by RACAL, then invest in a Fume/Particle Dust Mask by 3M allowing you to retain the mask section but change out the filters after 100 hours of use (thats probably once a year costing 15 quid) based on working hours.

    Its really worth investing in a good mask, long term prevention....
