Have a look at www.u-pull-it.co.uk they have a good selection of salvage cars at good prices, the deal is you pay the said price and they give you 7 hours to take off everything you want, the only stuff you cant take is the shell battery and cats.fairly good prices and all the donor parts you need

    Re: European vs American

    Quite timely post this ....
I have a BMW motor and box in my Chevy pick up.Motor wiring was easy and it fired first time. Gearbox is another issue. Mine has selected safe mode and I don't know why. It has been suggested that it is looking for the abs etc and when not found goes safe. Pain in the hole for me.
I took another running and driving car and put the whole lot in(4litre 286bhp this time) and it did the same. I,ll exhaust all the wiring possibilities before I put a manual in it.
My '34 coupe also is fitted with Porsche 928 mechanicals. Luckily it is a 5 speed manual.

Probably the one built by Colin Ayres...he's a Rolls specialist from Peterborough way. It was blue when CC featured it.

PPC seem to be having trouble getting big power out of their Rolls engine.

I was considering a BMW V8 for my Standard, and saw several running, legal, manual 540 for under £1k. That gives you almost 300hp, EFI, 6 speed gearbox and considerably lighter than an iron V8. There is no way I could get that spec for one of my smallblock Mopars for that money, and I already own the engines! Plenty of them used in other cars. Only real disadvantage is the sheer size across the top of the engine, and that's the only thing that changed my mind about using one.

    Re: European vs American

The audi engine i have been looking at is a good 150lb lighter than most american small blocks which makes up for a lot in a light car to start with. Most use a crank position sensor, so If this was used in conjuction with an msd7 or megasquirt system the original engine ecu should be redundant?
