My first car was a 67 Beetle, you can do loads to them, relatively cheap to buy and cool too. Try and get a quote on one of these maybe, Look for a nice 1200cc 70/71 model with no mods and go to someone like RH or similar and see what they say!

You could then modify as you get older/more driving experience....

Still not cheap for a beetle. My Daughters 1969 1200 cost over £1000 for her as a named driver and a no go when we tried to put our son on after he passed his test. Nobody would touch him on a 'historic vehicle' until he's 21. Even asking for it not to be on a historic policy they insisted that over 25 years old the car is historic.
If it's got tits or tyres, its gonna be trouble

deffo the best advise given on this thread, exactly what i've done and the insurance was well under half of the price for ever other car i was quoted on, the cheapest cars to insure i found were minis, moggies and cheapest of them all the beetle
    my prefect project
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.
