    You're getting there bit at a time, and those hinges do actually look rather good now...

    By the way, we all knew that sphere was up to no good when it first appeared

    Those hinge plates look like a very neat solution Mark, what would you use to bond them to the hinge?

    If I did not want them removable I would use Sikaflex but they will be fitted with 3M 1mm thick black double sided foamex tape.

    Of course if you were building before paint you can just put a 2.5mm radius on the hinges themselves.

    They look exactly the same underneath but with a smaller radius.

    More goodies arrived today

    Brake fluid reservoir level warning caps - these will be modified to fit into my current reservoir caps (I will post how I do this mod later) and some 24mm nut covers for the tow bar nuts. I'll need a lot of smaller ones of these later for the rear wing and other nuts.

    And some polystyrene cake decorating balls that happen to be 100mm diameter and 170mm diameter (it's 165mm diameter needed for inside the car but it's close enough). I might try to varnish these to make them last a bit longer but they will let me check all parts for radius inside & outside the car.

    Good to see your leaving the wing on, I just bought a new ball also 170mm as I found my old one had gone out of shape being sat for so long !
    The polystyrene balls are good because they can be sandcast at home if needed !

    Hoping the wing can go through - if it fails it will have to come off but we are fairly confident we can get it to pass.

    Brake fluid cap mods, start with the std cap;

    Drill a 25mm hole in the top and a 30mm hole in the inner gasket retainer and start to trim off the outer part (to the line in the cap);

    Heat the cap plug bar and bend it upwards a little;

    And then it all snaps together like a proper OEM part - instructions provided by Car Builder Solutions. Very happy with these as I wanted to fit these in the original build but could not find any. Just need to wire them in, this will be easy as I left a spare wire especially for these in the original loom.

    You have to love Ebay - I need to mod my handbrake so a quick Ebay search brought up a brand new old stock one for £15 - result!

    Guy (Bigyellataxi) on here gave me a bonnet spoon so its been smoothed out ready for filler & paint here. Nick (Portland pop) also lent me his smoothed spoon (and door handles & interior mirror - cheers Nick) but as I will paint this black I did not want to alter his one.

    More work today,

    Bonnet spoon filled & primer coats on

    These are the door handles that Nick gave me - they have been extended so the end has a 2mm gap to the bodywork (reqd distance for IVA)

    Front indicators are now finished & fitted - they actually look ok!

    Pondering the rear wing fittings here - they all need covering up as they don't meet the reqd 2.5mm radius. I have had several ideas from hose over the fittings, rubber boots over the rose joints but the wing fixing tabs still need covering. But I had an inspired idea today to get round all of it with only one mod - I'm really pleased with this idea as it's so simple and easy to do.

    All I need is 4 plates - one each side of the mounts, I'll need to make them about 5mm thick to get the 2.5mm radius on each side. They are tall enough to cover the complete rose joint assemblies and also the top of the Aero tube which might be a bit too 'sharp' for the test so I wont take any chances. All they will need is plastic caps over the nuts and to de-burr the hex hole in the Allen bolt head - sorted
