    It's been a long time since I updated this thread - unfortunately not much progress has been made. I needed to stamp the chassis with the new number DVLA gave me so I made a block and spacers up to keep them all straight and in line.

    Now stamped in;

    Also playing around with a new hood scoop to keep it compliant for the test, MKI version here;

    and MKII version profile here;

    View from inside - I'll need to check the forward vision regs to make sure it does not inhibit my view (sure it doesn't but need to make sure)

    New bootlid is almost finished - need to check fit before I finish painting it.

    Rear window surround almost finished, one more coat before a flat & polish.

    Lastly checking the towball height - regs state min & max height but there is a fair bit of leeway (for once!) so this is set at about the height for our trailer to tow level. It is well clear of the bootlid when open and has enough room for the parachute pack which will eventually be the cover when its completed.

    Great to see it moving along Mark.

    Quick question about the filler behind the plate. I'm guessing the filler tube has a seal that mounts to the boot lid, but can the tank be filled with the boot open? Is that ok? As fuel could spill into the car. I was going to do sort of the same, but have come up with something else now. I'm asking because a friend that's built a couple of 7s said he thought that was a no no. He was going to mount his filler in a solid, but flip up cover over the "boot" area with a door for the filler, but did the standard bike cap on the rear panel in the end as he didn't want to chance it.
    Just a thought, but I know nothing.

    The rest looks aces to me.

    The new boot wont open as it will be bolted in, the number plate flips up to reveal the filler which will sit in a box that seals against the bootlid.

    Popped over to Wayne's - Odd Rods - yesterday with some designs for exhaust blanks, some parts for my trailer & welding my Lambda sensors in - he called me today to say they were all done - excellent service!

    Lookity me with my high tech exhausts

    Gotta have the exhausts re blasted and coated black this time.

    Dragged myself into the garage tonight (suffering complete apathy on the car at present) and made the tow bar. Finally got some gas again for the welder after 18 months - nice to be able to weld again.

    Rage Revolution saw is ace at cutting CDS tube - it went through this in just a few seconds;

    Just tacked up at present to check clearances, but all looks ok.

    My parachute cover has not stored well over the years in the garage! a go in the washing machine & a bit of sewing machine work should see it looking better, it can then be modified to make a cover for the tow hook.

    'scuse my ignorance, but does the tow bar need a forward brace to stop rotation when weight is put on it? Will the flat plate twist?
    If I wasn't meant to go that fast, the pedal would only go half way!

    Which plate Mark?
    Both are 6mm thick - car end has 4 bolts (only 2 in photos as done up finger tight) going through to 6mm thick bracing to chassis crossmember. This is 3 times thicker than any tow bar from normal manufacturers and will be overkill of the 750Kg trailer I will tow.

    Tow hook is now finished apart from needing another coat of paint.
    Unfortunately the steel plate for the electric hook up will fail - sharp edges again
    Note the plastic nut cover fitted on one of the bolts - another requirement.

    As you can see in this photo. I will make an ally plate in 5mm thick so I can radius all the edges properly.

    The idea is to hide the hook inside this parachute pack, but this probably won't work as it will be far too low to look right
