High tec rods.....elements of the past and the future combining to make something not quite as good as either.

I'm not sure - like Kev says I think his is a Series 1, and I think the difference might be in the splines at the top of the column? To be honest I got two of them from old Land Rovers at Bloxham, but wouldn't know a Series 1 from a 2 if they drove over me. It was a pig of a job getting them out if I remember right, and seem to recall it involved borrowing their petrol-powered monster disc cutter!

    Hemi looks good!

I was researching these for my highrider , apparently the series 2 is , of course newer....and the s2 steering wheel spline is the same as minis so make`s steering wheel choice a lot better ! im still searching for a box to replace the suzuki jeep ( soooory to swear...) thing thats on there now....
My local Landy specialist does them s/h for £30 off the shelf...

i think all leaf spring landrovers have this type of steering setup. when they went coil spring like rangerovers they went cross steer.

    Hi All,

Not sure if they are still going now, but Oak Tree Garage, Kimpton Road, Peters Green, 01438 - 459658 used to have loads of those old series one and two Land Rover's for breaking. They are on the Herts/Beds border about 5 miles South East of Luton.

    Cheers.

    Russ.

Long time since I worked on them but I think you're right. In which case, series 3 should work too.Lots of changes when the 90 and 110 came out.
