    Mainstream hotrods ?

Just been nosing though E bay and looking at the amount of traders selling rods and classic yanks for serious money. They are obviously selling or the traders wouldn't be buying them to resell from places like here. No problems with that before anyone starts , buyer gets what they want and somehow the trader makes a profit.

My question is who the hell is buying them? Fairly obviously it's not those within the 'scene' cos they could have bought them direct. Is it people influenced by all the hotrod programmes on TV or 'celebrities' like Simon Cowell who owns one (at least ) in America ?

Ill say theres a lot more people into the cars than are into the scene.a lot off my customers have no connection with the scene.just like the cars.just how i like my customers, lol

Im not sure if they are influenced by the programs but they certainly help, putting car modifying on the map for the masses.

Seams a lot were fans in say the 70,s or eighties and bought the mags and now have the funds to finance their dreams.

I agree that much of the 'new blood' is guys who can now afford what they always wanted when younger but couldn't afford it then. I still waiting for that to happen to me .

Kind of relevent I guess, but I've never understood guys who spend the same money on a Cortina that they could have bought a Mustang or Chevy for. To me, that's like having your choice of any girl you like at the school dance and opting for the fat bird!!!!

Maybe thats because they like cortinas and not mustangs or chevy,s.

You know there are alternatives to yank cars.i appreciate its the only thing you seam to like but others have different tastes for different rreasons.

You could counter what you say by asking why do you waste youre money on dull, uniteresting yanks when you could spend the same money on a decent rod

I've had Cortinas, Yanks and fat birds. The fat birds have been fun but more expensive than a Cortina.
