If you can't be an example, be a warning.
When they realise nobody wants one cos they're front wheel drive wannabees it'll get dropped just like the capri....
I suppose they're trying to do what's been done with new Beetles, Minis. They're **** also.
As a styling exercise it's fine but I don't see this one going into production like the revived Beetle and Mini did. The Cortina name doesn't have the mass public affection that the other two do beyond the classic and custom entusiasts- who wouldn't be in the market for a new car anyway. The Cortina was only sold In Britain and Australasia, Europe had the Taunus which was a different car up to MK4 when they just put different badges on the same shell.
Ford have already done 3 nostalgic designs. The Mustang, GT and the last Thunderbird. the last one was a bit crap but the other two have been sucessfull because the originals had a prestigious image which the Cortina didn't really have, as far as the mass market is concerned.
Look OK in the photo but it in no way will look like that once it hits the streets
wheels on body work....dont think so

What ?The re-designed Ford Cortina combines parts of the iconic bodywork with the manufacturer's latest technology
Where the Hell do they see anything at all linked to the "iconic" bodywork ?
Should have gone to Specsavers, mate.............
Looks like a Mini, Astra, Focus, and a big bag of dog****e all combined into one !
Their chief designer drew that ?
Feck me, is he a 6 year old schoolboy or something ?............................
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the others in the car.
just another corporate exercise in taking money from morons. Put a green flash along it and suddenly its a Lotus
built by hand NOT by computer
Fugly. The last Capri styling exercise wasn't bad, but you can't have a FWD Cortina or Capri, it's ludicrous. I'd keep it rwd and make it even more retro by building in rust blisters to the front (plastic) wings and rear arches. Then we'll know it's a Cortina. Oh, and can it have that plastic clutch cable quadrant that explodes and throws its teeth over the footwell at the most inappropriate moment. Then we'll know it's a Cortina....
If I had to go out and buy a modern hatch back for a daily driver I'd consider one. But I'm not. So I won't.
