New style MOT certificates as of November 2011

Might be old news to some of you, but I learned today that they are replacing the current MOT certificates as of next month.

The new one will be as it is now, however it'll be printed on white paper as opposed to the current green / yellow / red system. Also, they will be printing advisories on the reverse side of the paper.

Personally I quite like this new system. Shady sellers will no longer be able to hide long lists of advisories waiting to surprise you.

    Thoughts?

All part of the new MOT regs that are coming in Jan 2012 . I think it's bit of sweetener so the garages no longer have to buy VOSA perwork as a 'reward' for accepting some of the changes . Good idea re the advisories as well , though staple marks on the certificate usually give the game away.

Starts on 16th of this month, advisories are on the front. The bit I find gobsmacking is that all this computerised guff and new style mot certs that came with it was to crack down on car crime, wait until you see one of these new certificates! black and white, no watermark, so the guy who's selling a stolen car will just sit at home and make a false mot for it in seconds, I know the certificate is useless, but he is only waiting for the money, then he's gone. How things advance in this country.

    Good idea I think,

The garage I got the T MOT'd at gave me this style MOT certificate 16 days ago and I was refused a tax disc at the local post office!
More than it shoud be, but not as much as it could be

We don't pay for any paper work and plain paper?? It comes in the price of Mot slots on computer syst.. But it's going to cost us the Vts more money as we now have to buy all the White paper ( a certain grade paper ). And the laser printer cartridge witch I was told by Vosa printer man is around £90 compared to £10 for old ribbon type ... But the cost of Mot slots is staying the same so no sweetener for us as you put it Vts from Jan have to have tow ball Elec checker and leak spray that most prob never come off shelf??
This is 1st phase next will be no cert at all just a receipt
Rest will be on Internet only

I stand corrected Al ! It's VOSA saving more money then not the garages cos VOSA are skint and running at a huge loss currently . Strange, I always thought they were supposed to be a Public Service not profit making ?
