    Perkins Prima Engine.

I just wondered how many people on this forum have the Perkins Prima engine in their rods, apart from myself in a 51 Chevrolet pick up, there is a Bedford CA being built in the Garage section with the same engine and L'm pretty certain that I've seen a Pop or a Morris Minor with the same engine installed.

( I don't have any pics at the moment I'll try over the weekend )

Developed by Perkins in the 1980's for BL Maestro and Montego. The diesel version of the Rover V8 went to within 6 months of production as well. Made both engines much stronger and this helped the T16 turbo and high output V8s.

That's right but it sounds much better than telling everybody it's a Montego turbo diesel engine, used to be a very popular Land Rover engine swap, a pal had a low milage engine in a Landy conversion, tweaked the pump and that fairly flew along.

Good engine, especially the turbo unit, I had one fitted in an Austin Cambridge estate a few years ago, it went really well.

I've a brand new boxed oil pump for one if anyone's interested?

If you haven't already, put an intercooler on it, really improves them.

My daily Maestro has a turbo Prima engine. Great to the gallon, fast enough when it gets into it's stride and anyone who tries to beat me a traffic lights I can just leave in a cloud of smoke.
