Right then dug the Camaro out of storage, done a few checks, hopefully now ready to roll down to The Ace Cafe, boxing day bash, sould be better than sat in front of the telly !,we'll be takin some pic's to put up here, and if anyone fancy's joining in shout up,were meeting a 32,roadster along the way,Bry
Well the trip down was filthy, but uneventfull :smoke:We took about two and ahalf hours to get to Lee & Tammy's,house,a very beautiful place,in Bedfordshire with this in the garage:tup:
Lee has just finished this garage,When he gets his finger out a Graham Page 5w coupe,a 9sec truck, and a mk1 lotus cortina, wiil join the roadster
We set of for the Ace and I jumped in the roadster with Lee cause the girls didnt want to get cold,so they took the Camaro all was going well for about twenty minutes
We realised the girls were missing, whilst we were stopped waiting for them, we got a call -turn back weve got a problem:S
Unfortunatly Bev had managed to clip a central reservation slightly with the front wheel, but the rear wheel impact took the tyre out and fired the car about 3 ft upward !,it could have been a lot worse,Louise was in peoples gardens looking for the centre cap and trim ring !Me and Lee had to hi-tail back to his place to get the space saver from Tammy's BMW (i had taken out the spare that morning-girls and bags etc)so we only had an inflater can
Space saver on we set off again, and finally got to the Ace,we didnt know what to expect and as it turned out it wasnt much, probably 20 cars which i never got chance to photograph,as by the time we'd had something to eat(we were all starving by this time)all the cars had gone !!,saving a Mk 1 escort and a cobra, both pro et race cars
We did meet up with Louis,(Goldcamaro) Barry George(barry george)haha on here,Barry Grimes,Jonny Roberts, and spent a good hour putting the world to rights, and agreeing what a dumb assed way this is to spend your time and money !Was also nice to bump into and wish seasons greetings to several racers and rodders.
At this point mobile phones were going all over london,Beds/Herts,trying to locate a wheel and tyre to get us back to Sheffield,A big thanks to Lee,Jim Mcgee,Frank,Stu Flitton ,Russ,I never had any doubts we would get sorted even in the middle of christmas holiday,Make me think about us having a HELP NETWORK on the site ,What do you think ?,Bry
Bryan,
I could of brought over one of my spare chevy rally wheels over within the hour,
could also have brought a trim ring and centre cap to save risking those poor girls entering a strange mans garden
seriously, glad nobody hurt or the damage too bad.
World class indeed Rog,the wheel will repair with a bit of heat to convince it,i just dont know what tyre options i have those BFG's are no longer available:tdown:Bry
I've got a stock of old BFG's i'll call you tomorrow.
Rog.
