I'm breaking my own rule of not posting negatively about cars just plucked off the net,but I don't understand why anyone would want to take something as beautiful and gracefull as a C1 'vette and do that to it

Look out for a mid 70's book /mag called Streetfreaks, full of lots of high riders and Corvettes were very popular for that style. If you are in to 'period correct' stuff ( and that specific period ) then it'll light your fire .

Graceful ? The Corvette is meant to be a tough muscle car not a hairdressers car Paul

Always thought they looked 'tuff' myself .

Given the kind of price a 53 would fetch, my money is on that being based on one of the replica bodies that can be had for $7k or so.

As i happen to like vettes of all vintages, altho not into the old "numbers matching, certified gold blah blah" I do admire those that turn em into modern day "rods" Gassers don't do it for me, I hear they drive really badly and to me they belong on the 1/4 mile, no offence to anyone that owns one, Give me a C1 vette with art morrison chassis, LS running gear, custom interior etc any day over that.

The Vette in all its incarnations was a Sports car, not a muscle car .The emphasis was to produce a combination of speed, handling and braking ability. Think twisting mountain roads or road courses not drag racing. Don't want to be too cruel but sacrilege sums up rides like this

Well I guess nobody likes this one either then, before he raced his Willy's :

There kinda sports cars I agree but anybody who's driven a high HP 4spd big block just knows that some of them are true muscle cars.
My initial thoughts were of that same book Kev!
