    Silicone Rad hoses.

    Hi All
My red silicone radiator hoses have discoloured.
They have gone black on the outside, where the coolant touches them in the inside.
On the ends where the hose is on the rad or thermostat housing they are fine.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Does anyone have an answer or know how to solve it.
    Thanks for your thoughts

    Ronnie.

I had this problem back in the day. It seems the silicone absorbs oils etc, so it's important to keep cleaning them as frequent as possible. But in your situation, it seems the absorption is coming from inside the pipe to the outside.

After wasting much money on turbo piping, finding that the silicone was drying up too much from heat or just discoloured easily, I found that some hosing had a different lining to avoid the fluids aborsbing all the way through. Flouro lining. After using the Google machine, I recollect using Viper Performance. They can custom make stuff so worth considering.

Staining on the outside can be removed with WD40, but not if it has come from the inside.
