    Thumbs upUSA based parts supplier

Just thought I'd share my recent experience of buying some parts online ...Needed to buy some rear wheel bearings for a sixties Oldsmobile and ordered them from a company called RockAuto RockAuto Auto Parts I order a lot of car bits from the states and was very pleasantly surprised as they didn't make the usual US company song-and-dance re. paying with a foreign credit card and/or sending parts to the UK.

When I set the delivery address to the UK on the website, they charged me UK VAT on the transaction so that the parts avoided customs charges (and the FedEx handling fee) at this end. I ordered the bearings on Thursday, and they arrived here at my place this morning.

Their prices seem pretty good too. I tried to get these bearings over the counter while I was in the states a couple of weeks ago. They would have been $37.50 each plus California sales tax in NAPA or Autozone shops (if they had stock, which they didn't) RockAuto charged $27.79 each for SKF bearings; even with $25 shipping and VAT they still came in at a bargain price for UK supplied bits IMO.
