    weight question number 2

so, whats the deal with a 100kg weight difference?

If I have a project car that weighs 1450kg, and a donor that weighs 1350kg, is it going to work?
for this exercise, i'm planning on using the rear ale out of the donor car as well.
The donor car is stupid fast as it, with about 160bhp, whereas the project car has about 100bhp at present.

    your thoughts?

100kg is like carrying a 16 stone passenger. It'll make a difference in ultimate performance but not a big issue on the road. Of course the fat git sitting next to you would affect fast right hand corners

Taff, stop thinking & get on with it!

Most models of car have varying weights dependant on spec anyway, so 100kgs is more than likely well within its tolerance band. My Passat has the unladen weight (kerbweight) isted as being between 1495kgs and 1720kgs depending on options!

your right you know, too much thinking is always my problem....

problem/situation solved, while there is a 100kg weight difference between the two cars, the donor engine is 110kgs lighter than the original engine.
So I will actually end up 10kgs up on the deal!!

Not a chassis swap, Kev, just a driveline swap.

From a perfomance point of view, I remember reading in Hot Rod that losing 100lb [45kg] in weight was worth 1/10 second off an ET.
How'd the weekend go? Well, at the moment it looks like a dolphin that's been caught in a boats propeller.
