    Where is the identity ?

I know, and so do some others on here (so SHUSH), but

Question 1) What carries the identity on an old steel bodied chassied car , the body or chassis?

Question 2 ) If I weld one make of car body to a different make of chassis what logbook do I use ?

    I know, is the answer:
A completely unrelated log book that I bought from e.bay that bears absolutely no resemblance to any parts used, but has the right make, model and year??

( I do know the proper answers)

Shush , as in the ones that know the answers ... on the other hand maybe they only THINK they know the answers ? Just we've had a couple of enquiries over at ACE recently that show some haven't been aware before they start a project.

That IS one method but you forgot to mention the maximum £2000 fine and/or 24 months imprisonment available for that offence ( fraudulent use of a V5C ). For some reason that never gets mentioned in pub conversations ?

On old American fords the ID was the engine & in Texas up until 1955 the engine ID was also the cars ID so if it was an import the answer could be neither. I'd imagine once registered here the V5c would show in these cases the only ID the vehicle ever had, i.e. the engine as there would be no other information to transfer over.

Therefore the answer is in some cases none of the above ie neither the body or the chassis. In the majority of cases which I'm sure this thread is speaking about its a 50/50 guess but im not 100% so I'll come back in 3 days when the peekaboo answer has been posted.

1955-56-57 Chevy new and used parts always available from www.randrhotrodimports.co.uk who I'm proud to have sponsor my '57 Chevy race car. 9.3 @ 155.8 mph / 0-60 = 1.47 seconds! Street legal :-)
