    bash,

remember him well sunshine, nice old boy, & always a story to go with whatever car you was looking at. As a kid i thought all his cars had belonged to someone famous or rich.
His son was building/customising one of the Studes in the barn, all i can remember is seeing a bunch of pop rivets all over the poor car, dont know if he ever finished it.
Don moved up to Lincolnshire a good few years back and theres a housing estate on his old place now, would loved to of seen what they pulled outta the ground.......

    cheers
    si

    AWESOME PLAIN AWESOME.......
A guy that worked in my dads garage in the early 80s, had a mate with a breakers yard close to an American air force base, I think it was near Oxford. He told me that the service men would bring the cars over on the transport planes, because the cars were flash and that would always help when picking up the ladies, but when they returned home would leave them at the base. Every couple of months they would have a clear out, and call the breakers to come and collect them. Most were used for target practise, and by the time they had finished with them went straight to the crusher. Apparently very few were broken for parts because at the time there was little call for them. He did tell me that while collecting a few once he spotted a red Mustang fastback with flat tyres parked on the side of the road, because it looked so clean he asked if he could buy it rather than risk it getting damaged, he was told it would be left alone and things would be sorted out by the time he called again. A few weeks later he went back, the Mustang was gone. He was directed to where the next batch were ready for collection, and there it was, practically blown to bits after being used for target practise. As Mopar said no real value at the time, but bloody gutting to think of all those wasted cars now.
the difficult takes time, the impossible takes a little longer
