    1972 Mustang Fastback 302 V8 Auto

    1972 Mustang Fastback

The car is in excellent un-messed with condition and in the past has won many trophies at various shows in the UK.

The car was built in September 1971 at the Dearborn factory and was shipped by rail and sold brand new at Koons Ford Inc in Falls Church Virginia on October 23rd 1971, I have the original original owner card, the original owner's manual and original invoice from when the car was new, I also have the original assembly line build sheet for the car, it was a 1 owner car in the USA before coming here in 1998 and the car has service history and stacks of receipts dating all the way back to 1971

The details of the trophies the car has won is as follows,

Wimpole Hall 2000 - Best in class - 71-73 all body styles

    Dartmoor Lodge 2000 - 2nd American

Mount Edgecombe Park Car Show Admirals Rest Hotel 2000 - Best post 1950 American

    Motorvatin USA August 2002 - Best 70's

Wheels Extravaganza 2003 - Best in show

Mustang Owners Club of Great Britain 2003 - Runner up - 71-73

Mustang Owners Club Of Great Britain 2004 - Best in class - 71-73

The spec of the car is as follows,

Bright red paintwork in excellent condition, I believe the car was resprayed about 10 years ago although you would think it was only painted recently as it looks great and has been really well cared for, all the lower arches and lower doors are solid with no sign of any rust.

I've been underneath the car and it all looks solid, it doesn't seem to have ever been welded.

302 small block V8 with a 2 Barrel carburettor, it is the original engine, runs excellent with no strange noises or problems, never overheats, i've been stuck in London traffic in it and it doesn't go above half way on the gauge, it always starts easy without any effort and sounds great like a V8 should.

Original "Select-shift cruise-o-matic" transmission, shifts excellent without any problems.

It is a factory air conditioned car although it may need re-gassing, it turns on fine but it doesn't seem to put out cold air, everything is hooked up and all there though.

    Power steering

    Drum brakes all round.

15' Magnum 500 wheels front and rear.

    255/60/15 tyres front and rear.

Excellent Ginger interior, new carpet and front seat covers, the dash is perfect with no cracks and the interior door cards are like new.

    New Mustang logo floor mats.

    All the dials work.

    Mileage reads 13195 miles.

New 15" Grant woodgrain steering wheel.

    Trunk mat kit.

    2 tonne jack included.

    MOT'd till September 1st 2011

Taxed till 30th April 2012, it is tax exempt anyway.

Only bad points worth mentioning is the air conditioning(see above), and the wheels have a few areas where the chrome has started to deterioate, they still look nice though and polish up fine.

I've done my best to describe the car as accurately as possible although with any 39 year old car it's best you come and view and judge it for yourself, please only come and view though if you're serious about buying.

So to conclude if you're after a nice original Mustang that hasn't been messed about with and lots of history then this is the car for you.

The car gets lots of positive attention around town.

This is probably the cheapest classic Mustang Fastback on the UK market today so grab yourself a bargain.
