We've been trying to get a local monthly meeting in the South Essex area going for a while, that's on a weekend, rather than a week night when those of us that have young children or work late can't make.
Finally found a nice venue to hold it at.
Cafe (doing only basic cafe food, bacon rolls , sausage rolls etc)
Nice big car park to hold it in as well.
Nice and easy to remember :
Last Sunday of the month (Every Month weather permitting, if its hacking down, us locals go and sit in the cafe and have a brew).
Cafe opens about 9am but most of us get there for approximately 10:30 - 11:30
If your from out of the area and want to come down you can always come to the Sunday meeting then go on to Southend on sea as its only about 4 miles away and make a day of it.
Spoke to the lady that owns the cafe and asked if it was ok to hold a monthly Classic car/ Hot rod meeting in her car park and she was very welcoming, but was worried if huge numbers turn up she might run out of rolls or bacon etc. I think that's a long way off yet to worry about that.
Rule of thumb is: anything classic that's interesting bring it on down, everyone's welcome, with exception of Rice Cars as those guys have their own meeting on the golden mile Southend.
Location : Two Tree Island Golf Driving Range Cafe
Two Tree Island
Leigh On Sea
(over the bridge next to Leigh railway station, follow the road as it bears right, go past the skate park, road bares sharp left and the cafe car park is up on the right. If you go over a second bridge you've gone too far)
We've created a facebook page with some photos of some of the cars we've had over the winter, not huge numbers but its been steady, although numbers are growing, and some real peaches have turned up out the wood work.
Hopefully it'll steadily grow into a great sunday breakfast meeting all year round.
Look forward to seeing you down there,
