In the diary..
I thought I'd post a little about Spring Break to clarify the aims of the show. The first objective, for 2012, is no more than to get the show launched, and evolve it from there. The 'early season' weekend was chosen because it is a period not overfilled with shows, and at a time of year when certainly from wheels day onwards, the winter covers are off most cars.
The Mid Suffolk Showground location was offered for this and other shows, and for a static car show, it is a superb facility. I have promoted or co promoted around 170 shows since 1987, and it is the most useable, practical venue I have come across. It has a great range of facilities at the complex, which make it perfect for rodders and families. For example apart from the showground itself, there are shops selling beer, food, clothing, home furnishing, antiques & collectables, a garden centre, a restaurant, a Bird of Prey Centre, golf course, driving range, lakes, kids play area, Campsite, all on the doorstep of the showground itself, and within the whole Stonham Barns Complex.
Access is also much better than many people would imagine, not much more than an hour from M25 J28, and just off the dualled A14 which runs all the way to the M1/M6 area.
I'm just keen that people get to see the venue and see the same potential in what I hope will be a truly entertaining show at an ideal facility.
As you'll appreciate from my previous posts, I've been keen to do this show but,
there's been virtually no response to my posts, I can't find any other 'ads'.,
and you're not promoting it on the NSRA site.
How are you spreading the 'word' ? How are people to find out about the show ?
It's nearly 220 miles each way for me; I'd need to tow the caravan and at the moment
I'm not feeling very encouraged about this at all.
Cheer me up, please.
The outside back cover of custom car is a decent ad slot. I agree about Nsra forum, although we did flyer the swapmeet. Online social networking etc and into other specialist mags like Milkcow. And fairly intensively more local to venue. The marketing is a huge learning curve... It's a first show in an area which although 1.5 hours from London , some imagine is totally in the boondocks. For all the reasons in my post above I hope the event is sufficiently well attended to hold again. If it's not, it will be totally my fault in either getting the content or the promotion wrong. I am focused on spreading the word of course, but also on delivering the show in terms of content, which has been promised. I'd love you to come, completely take on board your comments, and will keep marketing right up to the weekend.
One thing not clear on the ads however, is the start time...
You can get into the venue anytime from 6pm Friday, and the Friday night Bar will feature the Happy Kat Record Hop. And of course Beer.
The showground will open 8am both Saturday and Sunday (7 for traders) although you will be able to enter the complex outside the showground, where you can camp for the night even if you turned up at 3am!
I hope that's clear!
AMERICAN AUTO MAGS are now booked in ! Really looking forward to it.
A little bit of decent weather and I reckon it should be a very good show.
We always miss the Hayride cos it clashes with the NSRA show; I reckon
that this will have some of the same feel but clearly more broad-based.
Oh, just one question, any chance of getting in earlier to get the trade stand up ?
At least 5 of us from Norfolk Street Cruisers are going down.
We will take down some rods and set up our usual stall.
Mark from Power & Performance exhausts and rod building, Graham with some new spares and his Hotrod T shirts and myself with my usual range of quality used spares/ rat rod worthy rusty crap.
It's a new show and if we support it, hopefully an early season, annual event.
Gates are open from 6pm Friday btw.
looks a great do, just what the uk needs, however i fill something a bit more central location wise would have been a good move, and its the weekend after wheels day, still if a choice i'd rather do this than wheels day, just need to get my van done........and then the 10 hour round trip.........good luck with it though
