Hey Stiff I didnt realise there was a page 2 here, 99.9% of the hope has gone bud! Hi vern, the Riviera was recovered from Gainsborough I think. When did you see the car behind a barn and where m8? I didnt know of the appearance in custom car last year, I would like to see that. Does anyone know how I could view that online? If anyone wants to reply to this or contact me the best way is direct as I dont get on here anymore, my email is:

    Hey Vern,

Thanks for the reply and the picture, never seen that one before. I think you must of seen the car when we had it, we had it on a hardstanding on our land which was on the side of the Fossdyke canal just outside Saxilby, Lincoln. The A57 runs adjacent to this land and you probably saw it on the other side of the canal, this road runs to Markham Moore services via Dunham Toll Bridge. This would of been many years ago now though and the car wouldnt of had moss on it I am sure, may of looked that way though. You should of called round for a closer look, you could of been its saviour!

Yeh that sounds like the place. Hey, small world. So you sold it on from there then? what and when are the pics of it in pieces in a lock up then, isnt that later?
When i noticed it, it looked like it had been there for some time but like you say, from the other side of a dyke.. The pic was found somewhere on the net and i kept it for this reason.. I first see the car at aly pally i think. I had the pics on my bedroom wall from Custom Car, im 51 in september so that was some time ago lol
Good luck with the search and keep us all posted, even if it is coverd in mose, moose or even moss lol

Hey Vern, it is indeed a small world that is very true. Yes the car was sold from Saxilby, we had no where to store it under cover it until such a time as we could attempt to sort it out so we thought it best to let it go. The pictures I posted were taken in about 1991-2 and show the car as we found it, I was only 13 then so I didnt have a clue how to go about restoring a car. It was in a very sorry state to be honest, it had bad rot and numerous parts were missing. On top of this we had no paperwork for it, it had lost its registration which was "JFD 45D" to another vehicle some time earlier, a tractor of all things so I believe. So all in all it really was not a viable restoration project back then as parts were both difficult to get hold of and were very pricey. If it turned up now in that condition it would be a different story given the invention of ebay and the internet for that matter. I was hoping that the chap who had it from us maybe had mothballed it and that it was now sat in a barn somewhere still awaiting someone to rescue it, however this is looking increasingly unlikely. If it were broken I would of expected parts of the car to of shown up somewhere, the wheel trims for example, doors, wings etc would be very distinctive or even the philips record player that sat in the glovebox!? Its a mystery to me. I guess time will tell, it normally does.

Its haunting you mate, it is like the film Christine! Thats interesting, I will try and find a copy and take a look. I have not seen a custom car magazine for years, I think it must be outlawed in Cornwall

Thanks for the info Vern, keep it coming.
