Just pricing up the rebuild on my 305 SBC, pretty sure I can get a built running motor or even a running car (maybe an MOT failure or something) for less then it's gonna cost to machine out and build this one. Anyone got a running Chevy engine going fairly cheap?

Right, the play in my steering box has been measured, and the play is 63mm after adjustement with a 14.5" wheel. Hey I need a starter motor for my GMC van. It has staggered pattern, for 350 V8 on a 1991 Vandura. Mine engages with the flywheel but 9 times out of 10 the gear just vibrates rather than turn the ring gear. Assuming there are splines inside the gear, and that mine are shot.

does anybody no how to tell what starter motor goes with which flex plate, i no there are 2 that fit sbc and i have a few starter motors but how do you pair them up, they talk about shimming a few thou so oviously thers a diffrence:?:
