right so on research i've heard that if any more power is put through the rear axle more than the little sidevalve gives the axle cant cope with it,

so my question is what axles are there other than the 105e axle that are gd for the 100e

i've just bought a xflow and gearbox think its from a 1200 mk1 escort from a couple of mates

Depends how you drive it. I've puts 1600 GT xflow power though one with no problems.Snapped rear springs instead! That was on crossplies and I think wide radials would cause more of an issue Apparently if you do snap a halfshaft and wheel etc will fall out the axle.

105 axle and Escort axle are near enough the same, just that the 105 is narrower by a couple of inches. The reason people go for them is to get RWD wheels under the arches. If you get FWD wheels with less offset, then you cna use an escort axle. See about getting axle off your mates, and prop as well if possible. It will make it easier for you.

guys, on the subject of this, whats the difference in width between the 105e axle and a mk1 Cortina axle ?

From research iv`e been doing(i need a 105e axle if anyone has one for sale)105e is 44inch,mk1 cortina is 46 inch,escort 48 inch and capri 50 inch as measured from back plate mounting point.cheers

105e shafts are eayer to get than a whole axle and the big bearing ones fit the escort casing so get the escort casing and shorten it to suit the 105e shfts it worked for me.
