We set off from London and flew to Chicago, then got the 'Greyhound' bus to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
We then set out to cover the several hundred mile trip with a borrowed LTD with broken air-con.....

First stop for a Coke, somewhere in Missouri....

These are just the first bunch, i'll post some more if anyones interested,

Gary.

Great journey Gary, wasn't it great travelling around the US in the days before mobile phones, the internet and sat navs. Then it was grab a Rand-Mcnally and off you go, it's easier now but it's lost a lot of the sense of adventure and didn't we feel rich in 1980!

Oh yes, thanks for posting and please post more.

I'd forgotten about Rand-McNally Rog! We used to grab a new one every year as well as a Greyhound timetable, as we couldn't afford the internal flights back then.
Great big adventure, just a map & a pocket full of 1/4's & Dimes for the phone, planning the journey by where the next Motel6 was!

look at the size of that Camcorder!
