hi, have a 383ci mopar wanting advice on transmisson combo's, will be cranking around 450hp, increasing in the future, and powering a street strip 105e that hopefully weigh 2000lbs or less, been offered 727 and told can get short tail shaft, still think this maybe a bit long as engine set back as far as. any other ideas/ advice power glide???

TH400 with an ultrabell or powerglide with the same.The glide would work because your car will be light and it shouldn't have a high numerical rear gear.You could always use a gear vendors overdrive for real low rpm cruising. They're not cheap however..

the 727 is a good box, and yes you can get a shorter tail shaft, BLUE on here builds a lot of mopar boxs for the muscle car boys so might be the best man to talk to (i bet he has a short tailshaft kicking around)

thanks for the advice guys, after much thinking and calculating i've decided to go with a powerglide. just need to find one now.... need one for mock up puposes asap if anyone knows of one kicking around in someones garage gathering dust???? :)
