Hi there is a lot of thread regarding putting jag clip to 50s Chevys. But I read that they might be to wide for my 39. So I finally measured from the outside of one leg to the other and it measures 30". So finally I shall come to the question. Has anyone got the measurement of a jag clip??

stevie.

jag clip is about 61 1/2" hub face to hub face.this is the pre xj40 front clips most seam to use.

probable to wide for youre application, but are straight forward to narrow.

you will need to source a suitable rack and narrow that to suit.

if you measure the jag rack pivot points.then the new rack pivot points.you need to make the new rack pivot in the same place as the jags, minus the amount you narrow the clip by.

that way you wont have any bumpsteer issues.a manual rack is fine .

Hi guys
Just measured the car and it's around 60" front of hub to front of hub.
Tried looking at steep learning curve but it's not coming up.
As you can see there's a lot of space from wheel to fender so 3/4 of a inch either side should harm. Should it??

the pic shows wheels with lots of 'inset' so if the clip you fit is wider then you'll be looking at front wheel drive type wheels. as wayne (nobody) says the jag clip is very easy to narrow and as you'll probably want to keep the car lhd anyway an alternative rack to the very expensive lhd jag one will be needed anyway. mk1/2 escort or capri spring to mind (capri power racks are available if you can't live with manual steering). flip them over (so column input is on the left) and mount behind the narrowed crossmember and you're pretty much there.

I've got a mid 70s Jag IRS and IFS fitted to my 39 Ford, which is pretty similar to the dimensions of the Chevy. The width is only a problem if you want to fit deep dish wheels.
