Made the lower rad mount , just had to clearance the slam panel brackets that extended rear wards . Found a block of polystyrene packing so cut that into a pad for bottom and blocks for sides . Money has come through so just placed order for hoses and bits , 1/2 of what I wanted is "due in up to 60 days" and the next place I ordered from the check out wont work (WTF) . Will try again over the weekend, next stuff to order is the lights and electrical bits. Ring about roll bar, tyres to order, PCD adaptors, wheel studs and nuts etc etc etc-------- Anyway pics of rad in place, snug.

Was going to say the hoses are tight , ordered some hoses and alloy pipes that should work. Made the other lower rad mounts and welded them in this morning, sections for top of dash and fitted the cup holder ( why? cos I have a NOS BMW one that fits) . Temp bolts to see if it works, will have hidden fixings when done. Making a very large veg curry to take to open garage day one of my club is having tomorrow at the moment !!

Ordered a used upholstery / leather sewing machine from the bay and tomorrow will get the rest of electrical stuff , rear LED lamps ,trunking etc that is needed. Need to see Mark at Huxley Motorsport to get the roll bar and strut brace bent then will be able to glue the body sides on , that will keep me busy for a few days!!

Ordered the pcd adaptors, next is order some tyres ! Did some work to heater unit on the intake then refitted it so I could check centre console fitting as it looked lop sided . Sorted the centre bit and bent the one bracket, still looks off but its angled to driver so its an optical allusion (I hope!).

Need to chop about the Golf seat frame to fit passenger side, drivers is already done with original seat base/runners welded to Golf frame . Found some vinyl wall tiles to make splash back, need to measure up tomorrow.

Managed a few hours this morning (have to get ready for a barbie this afternoon and a gig tonight , yippee) so battery main cable laid and the cover/conduit bits that go between A&B posts fixed in place with ST screws. Rear reflectors have turned up so thats 4 tunnelled lights each side at rear or a sunk section with a Quadra file shape , who knows yet!

Some bits turned up today, at the moment working on the VW panel van. 2 new rear tyres, new rear brake drum (last in stock!) and sorted a leaking pushrod tube seal with a spring loaded one. Took front wheels for the Austin to get tyres fitted as well but they cant get any as non of the suppliers have any in stock. Reckoned it was down to classics coming out in lockdown and back log from canal so will be looking on the net.

Picked up the roll over hoop, nice job but he didnt have any tube to make the strut brace . Thinking some 1ins box will be fine and I can bend that in the press. Tyres turned up as well ,could only get tubeless so will have to weld the joints in rim and grind them smooth. Day off the panel van and see if the roll hoop fits

you know you can fit tubes in tubeless tyres?

well they always said it was a no , have done it before . Depends how ribbed the inside of the tyre is as they rub on tube and can cause a puncture..

agreed i wouldn't use tubes on some, they have particularly 'tall' ribs inside. also some tubes are thicker so more resilient to chafing before the inevitable.
